EMANCIPATION OF WOMEN-PART 1

Man has evolved from a monkey.

There is enough evidence to prove it all.

Whether ADAM came first or EV E?

Will anyone… Tell me, please?

They ate the forbidden apple.
The aura and atmosphere around them made them unite.
They danced among the trees—
So salubrious, so romantic was the breeze.

They ate and slept in abandon.
The product of their union came at random.
And then began the vicious circle—

The Circle of:

• Love
• Sex
• Children
• Family

With it came:

• Responsibility
• Frustration
• Anger

And when the anger died down…
It was back to:

• Love
• Sex
• Children
• Family

So much has been spoken and written about this.
We know all this—and much more.

But the question still remains:

Who came first?
Was it Adam?
Or was it Eve?

Will someone tell me, please?

The Physical Divide

By physique and personality, God made man more powerful.

By the same standards, He made woman more fragile.

Man, by his physical capabilities, wandered out of his abode in search of FOOD…which, when he brought it back, the so-called weaker sex cooked and fed to the brood.

In due course of time, man took to shouldering the external responsibilities—while the internal ones were left to be taken care of by the WOMAN.

‘The Woman’

‘The woman’ may appear more delicate—more fragile—more vulnerable; therefore, she has often been called the ‘weaker sex.’

In spite of this, she shouldered her part of the duties with efficiency and ease and also learned other aspects of HOMEKEEPING, like STITCHING/KNITTING/EMBROIDERY, besides maintenance of the home. Further, she also mastered the SUPER SPECIALITIES like PAINTING, DANCING, and MUSIC so as to be able to entertain her family in times of need.

As time sped on, man became more and more supreme.
He took COMMAND of SITUATIONS and also started to make some DECISIONS!!!
He even flaunted his male dominance on the poor mite by sheer physical pressure (more so in the bed).
His arrogance in behavior/talk/speech and act grew tremendously.
Whether RIGHT or WRONG, he wanted his might exercised.

As time traversed the tide of centuries—a wee little thing called the “GREY MATTER”…FLUTTERED IN A WOMAN’S HEAD.
You might like to call it the “quickening of the female mind.”

SHE STARTED TO USE —HER—B-R-A-I-N

Since a woman has always been quick to understand, quick to fathom, and always double quick to comprehend, she quickly not only mastered the art of homemaking but also started to take interest in the happenings outside the house.

She slowly—but deftly—exercised her mind—UTILIZED HER SPARE TIME JUDICIOUSLY—AND STARTED TO PICK UP THREADS OF INFORMATION LEFT SCATTERED RECKLESSLY BY HER MAN!!

She took to READING & WRITING, as did her man, and along with this … She took to managing the small financial interactions at home.
She took to sitting in leisure hours with her children, and while they read, she would listen to what they spoke or talked about; she too started to read!!
And soon she started to read more and more.

And soon, though not too soon, emerged a SEMI-CONFIDENT WOMAN with a burning desire to step into the world with an urge to make her presence felt!!!

Man

The man, by now, was far too busy exploring other avenues.
Man never was—in fact, MAN is just not cut out to look into the other aspects of grooming up of the kith and the kin.

Slowly, but deftly, as man traversed the diversities of science & technology, WOMAN, with her steady pace, began creeping into pastures hitherto forbidden by MAN.

SHE STARTED TO W-O-R-K>>>>»

She worked for pleasure.
She got some excitement—along with this, she got some amount of MONEY!!!!

This extra money gave her some independence.
And OH! What a thrill!

The thrill of doing something, however trivial, however small, of having made a NICHE for herself—

LO & BEHOLD—-

Before the man could do anything about it—

THE WOMAN HAD COME OF AGE.
THE WOMAN HAD COME TO STAY.
THE WOMAN HAD NOT ONLY MADE HER PRESENCE FELT—-she had slowly but securely crafted an indelible impact on society!!!

PROGRESSION OF WOMAN

NOW—-The step by step advancement of women. The role of women in present-day society is what I would like to talk to you about.

But before I really begin on the Progression of Woman, let me pause—

Let me tell you, all that the woman has done or will do would not have been possible ALONE!!!!!

(Polson Butter/Amul ka makkhan!!!) You might think that I’m kind of placating the MAN…..

The fact is that:

I take this opportunity, today, to speak on behalf of all the women of my genre—that—

That—it is not without unflinching support from MAN—be it from a father/father-in-law/brother/brother-in-law/son/son-in-law/uncle/husband or even friend/well-wisher—without their direct/indirect support we ‘WOMEN’ would not have reached the levels that we have reached today!!!!

THE CRACK

Man may have been arrogant—man may have been haughty.
Man may have been selfish—he may have terrorized his wife;
He may have shown male superiority over his female sibling.

But—

But a wee little crack he just could not see!!!

The crack that forced him to tumble out his pent-up emotions from a man to a woman—in the form of a father down onto his daughter—————

……while he showered his EMOTIONS—out came the little MITE—

She fluttered her feathers as he pampered her and put her through semi-equal facilities with her male siblings—-

THE WOMAN in her
surfaced!!!!

It is here that the woman got an opportunity to learn, to grasp, to fathom—slowly and gradually she got education—and with it came poise and confidence, surety and perseverance, and soon there emerged a respectable, qualified, smart, yet demure—DELIBERATE—DAUNTING—FEMALE.

Ready—ready to take on the world!!! (to correct position)

The world where we are in today—the world wherein— –In the last 100 years—

Both man and woman have seen so-so much where in—

In the beginning was an era of—

No Bijli	To so much of Bijli
No Telephone	To  Mobile phones
No proper working stations	To fiber glass homes
No scope of fast travel	To travel to Mars and the moon

The list is endless……
This debate can go on and on and on

We are here today, not to discuss the advancement of technology in the new millennium——BUT –to try to see and analyze the role of WOMAN in present-day society.

I am no connoisseur of WOMAN.
I am no expert on WOMAN-

(I need to tell one and all that I gave this talk nearly 26 years ago to an August gathering of highly eminent dignitaries—a few were Parliamentarians as well in the huge gathering. An incident in my wellness clinic with one of my patients, and his persistence that I give a talk on WOMEN and their upliftment >>>>>> This event materialized >>>>> )

I AM, I REPEAT, NO AUTHORITY ON WOMEN!!!

I have been wondering in the last couple of days—why did this erstwhile ROTARIAN CHOOSE TO invite me to deliver a TALK ON THIS ISSUE?

Is it because of some altercation I had with him just the other day?
I know not!!!
I’m sure he must have made some impressions. And I hope and pray he did not get disappointed!!!!

Before I really get down to THE NERVE OF THE TOPIC—

I wish to repeat that I have NO AUTHORITY.

I have not read any BOOKS ON WOMEN’S RIGHTS!!!
I do not belong to any COMMISSION FOR THE WOMEN—-

The only thing I possess is a burning desire for women!
For all kinds of women.

WOMAN

A woman is a gamut of so-so much—

She is the PIVOTAL POINT of the house,
She is the FULCRUM of a large machine,
She is the ENGINE room of the TITANIC,
She is the center from where the SPIDER starts its WEB,

She is the CONTROLLER OF ALL Activities
She is the ADHESIVE
She is the BINDER
She is the GLUE

The Health, the HAPPINESS, the HOME, ALL revolve around her.

FIRST CLASSIFICATION	Inside home	Outside Home
	As a daughter/ sister/ Wife/Mother/ Mother-in-law	Part time worker/ whole time worker
	As a  maker of an institute( Home maker)	Mokatarian /Careerist
	As a breaker of home.(When she is the total cause )	Totally Professional
2nd Classification	Woman—married/ other wise	Spinster/ Mutual divorce
		Divorcee/ Widow( hands of Destiny)
3rd Classification	Under subjugation by a man

	As an  Bahen/ Bhabhi/Mami/ Chachi/ Taiji/ Bhua/Nani/ Dadi/ Sas/ Mata/ Jagat Mata/ Devi	Girl friend/ mistress/ Keep/ other woman/ SAUT/ Vamp/ Sex worker/ eunuch—

Besides care of the hearth and the home, she, as just discussed, slowly started to spread her wings, fluttering, and started traversing hitherto forbidden pastures.

Let’s see the slow but deliberate progression.

Initially all she did was

Cooking/ keeping care of health and family members

Give birth to kids/baby care/ baby rearing/baby sitting plus home keeping

………………………………….do………………plus dancing/ embroidery/painting/

Looking after full management & progress of kids at home and beyond home and Hearth

Taking care of the elderly, and fulfilling all social obligations

Always leading a ‘Yes Sir’ type of LIFE

Next, she got herself some education/confidence/poise/grit, and determination followed soon after.

Hand-in-hand—she stepped into a man’s shoes—-

Initially she was quite comfortable—first as a teacher/ A typist/ A tailor/ A clerk/ A nurse———–

Then as a DOCTOR/Engineer/Scientist/Computer professional/Musician/CA/CS/Exceptional dancer/ACE Chef, and many a coveted position in Govt Jobs.

Nowadays, you can even see ladies in areas of total Male dominance—

POLITICS/ Marine engineering/space engineering/archeology/ Geology/Aeronautical Engineering/Pilots

Even as deep-sea divers/miners and mountaineers and space rocketeers!!

In fact, one very encouraging fact I picked up from one of the latest magazines is that amongst the senior IFS dignitaries in INDIA

Out of 954 IFS officers, approx. 263 are women!!! (December 2025)!!!!

Doesn’t it all sound so encouraging!!!
